Umeå University has 31500 students and 4 300 employees and is the largest in the northern half of Sweden. The distributed systems research group at the Department of Computing Science conducts research on a broad range of topics relating to cloud resource management, including capacity autoscaling (elasticity), scheduling, differentiated QoS, decentralized resource management, datacenter energy management, distributed monitoring and accounting, holistic management, cloud architecture design, workload modelling, resource overbooking, and various enabling technologies such as live VM migration and re-contextualization.
